The Week That Was: SEMICON West 2014 Review

The Week That Was: SEMICON West 2014 Review

To all of our SEMICON West 2014 exhibitors, THANK YOU for another great year! From show floor buzzing with talk about the impact of the Internet of Things, to standing-room only crowds at the TechXPOTs, to successful launches of new conference programs (including the Semiconductor Technology Symposium (STS) and the Sustainable Manufacturing Forum), SEMICON West again proved why it is the flagship global event for microelectronics manufacturing.

By the numbers, attendance was slightly up from 2013, at 26,140 (visitors and exhibitors), with 17,473 verified visitors. Unique SEMICON West international attendance rose an impressive 21%, with international visitors accounting for 15% of total verified SEMICON West visitors. This makes SEMICONWest the most international event of all SEMICON shows worldwide.

On the content front, SEMICON West again made the case for being the premier semiconductor R&D event, with participation from the world's leading microelectronics research institutions and universities and popular sessions on next-generation technologies and electronics trends. The second Silicon Innovation Forum (SIF) was a success as well, showcasing start-ups and early-stage companies on the leading edge of microelectronics design and manufacturing, and connecting these companies with prospective investors and technology partners.

We are already working on planning for SEMICON West 2015, including programs and exhibit opportunities focused on key industry topics. The new "Generation Next" concept will highlight exhibitors and content in two areas in 2015: advanced packaging technologies and advanced substrate engineering. Look for more details on "Generation Next" in the coming months.

Again, thank you for your continued support of SEMICON West! We look forward to working with you in the months ahead to make 2015 even better!
